PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is an autologous biological treatment obtained from the patient's own blood, through a controlled centrifugation process, which allows the concentration of platelets and growth factors. The platelets release bioactive mediators such as PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF and IGF, which act in the stimulation of tissue regeneration.
In hair medicine, PRP is used to stimulate the hair follicle, improve scalp microvascularisation and promote hair growth, being indicated in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia and other forms of hair loss. It can also be used in aesthetic medicine for skin rejuvenation and improvement of skin quality.
After collecting a small blood sample from the patient, the platelet-rich plasma is separated by centrifugation and activated. It is then administered through microinjections into the scalp (or skin, depending on the indication), systematically and in a controlled manner.
